About Me
I am a 2004 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and I have worked at UNC for almost seven years. Currently, I am an Instructional Technology Developer in the School of Government at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this position, I have an opportunity to help develop interactive course content, including the support of webinars and creation of e-learning modules. I also work in a training and support role for faculty interested in learning and using instructional technology and multimedia tools such as screen capture and PowerPoint. Prior to this position, I worked for five years as Manager of the Foreign Language Resource Center in the Department of Romance Languages. While Manager, I supported the successful transition of several face-to-face introductory language courses to hybrid or blended models, including the fully online Spanish 101 course.
My philosophy is that technology should be used to supplement classroom activities – not simply adding technology for the sake of it. I typically use a backwards design approach when managing projects – looking at the desired end result and then working backwards to determine what is needed to reach this result.
